niacin- B3

Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, is one of the water-soluble B vitamins.

This means that any excessive amounts of B3 is excreted in the urine.

Although most niacin is made in the liver, it is also found in green vegetables like peas, beans, broccoli, lentils and carrots. It is found in yeast extract and brewer’s yeast.

Niacin helps the body convert nutrients in food into energy, create fats and cholesterol, create and even repair DNA, and have antioxidant effects.

Niacin comes in two forms: nicotinic acid and nicotinamide.
